I notice no responses or enquiries here since June last year.
Does the Loan program still exist?
I'm interested in trying a few before buying one :)
Will join the forum in any case,
Cheers, Anth

I can't go to the next sling meet. I should have borrowed that barabarn from you when I had the chance! Then again, I've been back and forth about the ring sling thing and concerned about my back.

Is it still up for grabs? Is it easy to use and comfortable?

Thanks,

Angela

Hi Angela,

Did we meet at the slingmeet last week? There's another next week if you'd like to come and try some things out- details being worked out on list. The barabarn RS is currently up for sale on FSOT, but if there's been no bites you're more than welcome to borrow it for awhile. Otherwise, you're more than welcome to borrow a pair of rings and have a go at a no-sew RS. (Or I'll sew up a loaner in the meantime ;))

Alternatively, do you know how to tie a slipknot? If you have a shawl/scarf that's, say, 70cm wide and just over 2m long, you could use that in much the same way as you would a ring sling. If a slipknot isn't working for you, I've had great success with an ordinary square knot that you slide to the small of your back and then just treat the shawl as a pouch of sorts. It takes a few goes to get the right length because it's not adjustable, but it works (remember to flip the top shoulder to keep baby close to you and not leaning out).

This post http://www.baby-carriers-downunder.com/2009/02/27/babywearing-and-the-baby-with-reflux/ has some links at the bottom with ways to use items you already have to do a hip carry that should tide you over in the mean time.

Feel free to post any questions you have on list! Someone is always around to help you out.

I have been wrapping but have a 7 month old who wants to be on my hip a lot. I've never tried a one shoulder carrier but would like to try/borrow either the bara barn ring sling, kangaroo corner pouch or baby rock sling all of which are available in Sydney. What do I need to do?

I guess I am most keen for the ring sling.

Thanks,
